This is one of the Environments created for Quixel's 'Ninety Days' project, during which each individual artist in our team was tasked with completing as many different environment as possible, all in a timespan of 90 days.

Making a more moody Lovecraftian lighting was a super nice change. The fishing cottage was built by my colleagues Wiktor Öhman and Jakob Keudel for an un-realsed project we have been working on. I used that as the base then did some additional set dressing and tweeking to the scene, re-worked the lighting and atmospherics and all that jazz. Big thank you to Saga Alayyoubi for making and animating the tentacles!
The lightning flash was originally longer, but since we needed it to match the beat of the music in the final video I ended up just doing one short flash instead. It took a bit of time to get the density of the fog to feel right. I wanted to give it a kind of claustrophobic feel while at the same time have the important features of the scene visible. Its takes some tinkering to get those levels right but I think it turned out nice.
Everything for 'Ninety Days' was created using the Epic Games and Quixel Ecosystem, meaning we used Megascans, Metahumans, Sketchfab and the Epic Marketplace.
A massively heartfelt thankyou to the amazing people I get to work alongside with:
