UE5 | Ninety Days | Sci-Fi Crime Scene

This is one of the Environments created for Quixel's 'Ninety Days' project, during which each individual artist in our team was tasked with completing as many different environment as possible, all in a timespan of 90 days.

This was probably one of the harder scenes I made for this project. Working with sooo many small light sources like this is really tricky. Especially when we had so little time to plan each shot. As you can see in the progress video a lot of time went into just grading and balancing the lights. Also it was the first time in this project where I tried working with a character in a scene. Usually when adding characters to a scene, I work with an actual animator or character artist (who knows what they are doing). One tricky thing I had to work around was the fact that non of the Metahuman clothes fitted this scene. So I made a metahuman, then I exported the torso mesh to Blender where I built an overcoat, quick weight paint on that badboy and imported back to UE where I animated it. The amount of ungodly hacks I had to make to get this scene done with our super short timespan will echo in my consciousness forever, haha. It was a super fun challenge and I learned a ton from trying all these things!

Everything for 'Ninety Days' was created using the Epic Games and Quixel Ecosystem, meaning we used Megascans, Metahumans, Sketchfab and the Epic Marketplace.

A massively heartfelt thankyou to the amazing people I get to work alongside with:

A keen observer will notice that one of the original detectives (the woman crouching) was turned into the huge hologram in the city instead. Its important to always use every part of the metahuman and let nothing go to waste xD
