UE5 | Ninety Days | Waterfall

This is one of the Environments created for Quixel's 'Ninety Days' project, during which each individual artist in our team was tasked with completing as many different environment as possible, all in a timespan of 90 days.

I like how this scene turned out. Those huge Nordic Cliff scans look so good at a distance like this! Add some vegetation and trees on that and the scene is done, kind of. The waterfall was always gonna be the tricky part. I tried some different FX solutions for it. Since we didn't have much time I couldn't sit down and learn how to use Fluid Ninja, or something, just to make this one scene.
What I ended up doing, after some talking with Wiktor Öhman, was to just mask out a waterfall from a video and then use a media texture on a plane. It works really well I think and is super useful if the waterfall is seen from a distance like this.
