I had the great privilege to work on the MegaLights Demo for Unreal Fest Seattle 2024. We spent a little over two months building out a demo to show off the incredible things one can do with the MegaLights technology.
Having worked with lighting in UE for many years I really feel MegaLights is as much a game changer as Lumen was when it was released a few years ago. MegaLights is available in UE 5.5 but do keep in mind it’s still an experimental feature.
My responsibilities for this project was working on lighting, atmospherics and post processing as well as environment art, set dressing, marketing shots and optimization. With such a small team everyone touched just about every part of the level at some point.
However my main area of responsibility was set dressing the area with the stairs and a section of the bazaar buildings as well managing the media texture setup of the old demos and globally overseeing the lighting, atmospherics, exposure and post processing.
The project was an incredible team effort and every time I work on one of these demos I just get blown away by the skills and knowledge my colleagues possess.
If you want to see more media from the project, go check the incredible work of my esteemed colleagues in the environment art team:
